THE SECOND MOST COMMON PLASTIC

MANUFACTURED (AFTER PE)

• Either Homo-polymer or Co-polymer with ethylene

• Blended polymers can be made to:

– Be tough and flexible

– Withstand low temperatures - freezer grades

– Be clear or coloured

– Contain special additives for other properties

• PP blends can be microwaved but not oven cooked

• Service temperature range of -40°C to +120°C

and sorted as part of

normal recycling

The bottles are washed,

sorted and ground into

flakes

Flakes are converted to

high quality PET sheet

The PET sheet is

thermoformed

into food trays

The skeletal waste from

thermoforming is re-used
